Mahdi Yahya is an artist, investor and entrepreneur from Lebanon, based in London. He runs a global telecom company, an artist residency in London, is an investor in an App Design studio and several other ventures. He is also an artist who writes poetry and photographs.
We worked with Mahdi to create a web magazine for him to share his thoughts on Business, Philosophy, Art, Design, Technology and other subjects he is involved in or interested in.
Rather than treat it as a blog, we decided to treat it as a magazine, with multiple story formats – longform article, short article, photo essay, video and poetry. Each of these were designed as independent pages with multiple, user-editable components in the Content Management System (CMS) to allow the creation of unique, fresh pages for each article, including modifications in layout.
The coolest feature was the ability we created for the client’s web team to visually edit the homepage. Instead of linking it to the CMS and automatically populating it (thereby templatizing it), we chose to make a homepage where everything (headline, image, copy) was editable through a simple WYSIWYG interface. This was truly magical!
