Cheripo is a name derived from two greek works “Cheri” and “Pou”, meaning “made with hand”. Cheripo is a platform for artists (painters, sculptors, illustrators…) to promote and sell their work and for art lovers to discover, appreciate and purchase art.
Like the business and the name, the identity for Cheripo focuses on the artist. Instead of taking the typical abstract / metaphorical route to evoke art, we chose to literally put the artist front and centre. A bust of a pipe-smoking artist, placed on the pedestal of the I. The bust of the artist also becomes a versatile symbol for the brand that can be used independently. The typography and style of the brand creates an old-world, timeless aesthetic, without using the typical retro/vintage visual devices.
We used the starting point of the logo to visualize how the identity would extend to packaging, patterns, office decor, t-shirts, illustration/icons and social media.
